Lock out

A burglar snatched two iPhones and a cache of jewelry from a Ridge Boulevard apartment on Jan. 2 — and then locked the front door by sliding the chain lock so the resident couldn’t get in.

The victim told cops that she left her home between 70th and 71st streets at 9 am without locking her bedroom window. A crook took that as an opportunity to come in from the fire escape, swiping her iPhone 3 and 4, dozen of earrings, two watches, and her wedding ring.

When the victim returned at 7 pm, she was unable to get inside, thanks to the sneaky thief.

Coat caper

A thief slipped out of a Fourth Avenue watering hole with a woman’s coat, phone, and wristlet on Jan. 1.

The victim said she put her jacket on a hook at the bar near 94th Street 3:30 am as she rang in the New Year. But when she went to pick it up later it was gone — along with her BlackBerry, Coach clutch, $100 cash, and credit cards that were in the pocket.

Unauthorized withdrawal

A lowlife ransacked a woman’s van in the parking lot of a Third Avenue bank on Jan. 3, police report.

The victim said she left her unlocked vehicle in the lot at 92nd Street at 2:26 pm and went into the lending institution.

When she came returned to her car at 3 pm, her bag, camera, wallet, phone, ID, and cards were all missing.

Bad trip

A villain pillaged a Ridge Boulevard apartment while the tenant was away sometime overnight on Jan. 1, according to authorities.

The victim said she put her friend in charge of her home at 70th Street, and left at 6 pm to go skiing. When the friend stopped by at 11 am the next day, the rear bedroom window was open.

When the victim came back on Jan. 4, she discovered that thousands of dollars in jewelry were missing from her home, along with her PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

Don’t be a hero

A fiend bludgeoned a do-gooder trying to stop him from breaking into a vehicle on 13th Avenue on Dec. 30, police say.

The victim said he witnessed the would-be burglar trying to open a van parked between 84th and 85th streets at 7:40 am, and attempted to intervene.

The thug responded by striking him over the head with a club and then fleeing the scene. The good Samaritan suffered bruising and swelling as a result.
