Alternate-side of the street parking regulations will be reinstated in Hurricane Sandy-battered Coney Island and Brighton Beach beginning today, city officials announced.

Street-sweeper rules for neighborhoods in Community Board 13 — which represents several shorefront communities that took the brunt of Sandy’s wrath — have been suspended for well over a month as residents try to regroup and rebuild in the aftermath of the storm.

“Alternate side parking regulations will allow for necessary street maintenance as storm recovery efforts in these areas continue,” a Department of Transportation spokesman said. Parking meter rules were reinstated weeks ago, officials said.

Seven weeks after Hurricane Sandy hit, most of the People’s Playground remains closed. Both Nathan’s Famous and the New York Aquarium, as well as several other Boardwalk attractions, will remain shuttered until the spring, community leaders say.

Neighborhoods in Community Board 13 include Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Gravesend, Homecrest, and Seagate.
