Hip, hip, hooray to the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, Camba, Haitian-American Community Coalition, Diaspora Community Services, Evelyn Douglin Center for Serving People in Need, and Brownsville Multi-Service Family Health Center for receiving the Commitment to Care Award from EmblemHealth at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

The laurel recognized nonprofit organizations for their commitment to providing care, services and support to Brooklynites and other New Yorkers.

On hand were: David Flemister, director of Community Marketing at EmblemHealth; Dave Mahder, veep of Marketing and Communications at Emblem; and Standing O pal and keynote speaker Carlo Scissura, president of Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.

Mader explained the importance of the non-profits.

“Their unwavering commitment to making their communities healthier and better is an inspiration,” he said. “We have the chance to shine a spotlight on organizations that are making a difference and a positive impact in their communities.”

Standing O is inspired, too!

The awards were presented to: Charles Archer, C.E.O. of the Evelyn Douglin Center for Serving People in Need; Joanne Oplustil, Camba president and C.E.O.; Nadine Juste-Beckles, board member of Dispora Community Services; Harvey Lawrence, president and C.E.O. of the Brownsville Multi-Service Family Health Center; Dr. Andre K. Peck, executive director of the Haitian-American Community Coalition; and Tracey Capers, executive veep for programs at the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation.
