Cheers!
Applause, applause to Jason Gotay. This son of the borough is starring on Broadway in the roll of Randall, the love interest of Campbell, in “Bring It On,” the musical sensation sweeping the nation that tells the tale of high school cheerleading, competition and challenge.
One of the numbers performed, “Do Your Own Thing,” has a special meaning to our new favorite song-and-dance man.
“When I was at Marymount College, I learned you don’t have to be the same. It’s okay if you march to the beat of a different drummer,” he told Standing O. And that’s the story of “Bring It On,” cheering to the rah, rah, rahs of your own pom-poms.
Jason added, “There’s something about New York and Broadway that is just so incomparable.” Standing O feels the same exact way — about Brooklyn.
Better get those tickets quick before Jason’s family snags all the seats. His sister has seen the show 14 times, his mom 11 times and his brother, seven. Come on bro, you’re not keeping up!
Bring it On, at the St. James Theatre [246 W. 44th Street, Broadway and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan. (212) 239–6200].
