Coney Island
And the winner is: Darya Inyutkina! This enterprising, future scientist, graduating high school student was awarded the George D. Ruggieri Scholarship from the Wildlife Conservation Society’s New York Aquarium on Aug. 28. Our pal Darya moved the tassel over to the left on her mortar board from the Rachel Carson High School, where she earned a whopping 3.73 grade point average, as well as aced advanced-placement courses. She also passed College Now readiness courses at Kingsborough Community College.
As part of the scholarship package Darya received a $5,000 check towards expenses, which she plans on using at Pace, where she is majoring in Biology this fall.
Darya is also a do-gooding community activist. She’s an all-around friend to the animals and volunteers at a shelter; a friend to seniors, she volunteers at an assisted living complex; and a friend of the environment, she helps keep the beaches clean at annual clean-ups. So she’s certainly a friend of Standing O.
