Grocery goon
A 31-year-old man was arrested for stealing food and other goods from an Avenue S grocery store on June 18, and then running his car’s wheel over a man’s foot while making his escape.
An employee told police that surveillance footage from the store between E. Eighth and E. Ninth streets recorded the man taking various goods, including five cans of Taster’s Choice instant coffee, off the shelves and attempting to leave without paying for them at 1 pm.
The employee told police that he followed the man to his car and tried knocking on the window. That’s when the suspect bolted out of the parking space, running over the employee’s foot in the process, police said.
