A motorcyclist walked away with minor injuries from a Belt Parkway accident on Tuesday, although the same couldn’t be said about his bike, which was reduced to a hunk of slag when it erupted in smoke and flame.
The motorcycle collided with a white SUV on the Knapp Street entrance ramp leading to the west-bound lanes of the Belt Parkway around 2:28 pm. The collision sent the rider sprawling off the motorcycle, which exploded some time after the collision.
The driver of the SUV walked away from the wreck without any injuries. The biker walked over to a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts, where paramedics found him. They took him Lutheran Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The blackened, smoldering remains of the motorcycle, however, were carted off on the back of a tow truck.
