Cops arrested two young men for assaulting and shooting a man near the corner of 69th Street and Fifth Avenue on April 24.

Police clarified their earlier account of the incident. Police now allege that 21-year-old Patrick Noonan and his 18-year-old brother, Taylor Noonan, were walking down Fifth Avenue at 7:45 pm when they literally bumped into the victim — who had formerly lived in the same 69th Street apartment building as the siblings.

A verbal dispute ensued, according to cops, and Taylor punched the victim in the face. Police said that Patrick left the scene, returned moments later with a handgun, and shot the victim in the leg.

Ali Abdul, an employee at nearby Fifth Avenue Wireless and Travel Agency, told this paper on April 25 that his security tapes — which cops took after the incident — show the victim trying to dodge and hide behind cars after Noonan pulled the gun on him.

Both Noonan brothers have criminal records. Police first arrested Patrick in June 2012 for possession of marijuana, and again a month later for impersonating a police officer. Both brothers got busted in March of this year for criminal possession of a weapon.

Stephen Flamhaft, the Noonans’ attorney, said his clients would both plead not guilty. The lawyer said the young men had their own version of events, but declined to describe it.

The two are due in court tomorrow.

In recent months, politicians have called for police security cameras on Fifth Avenue between 69th and 75th streets to cut down on crime. The NYPD said it is currently surveying the area to find a good location to mount one of the devices.

Residents of the blocks just off Fifth Avenue between 69th and 75th streets have long complained of thuggish drug-dealers plying their trade on the corners, and some neighbors are attempting to organize a civilian patrol to combat the problem.
