Brooklyn Daily

With the recent demise of Williamsburg’s Zip112 Hostel, it appears Brooklyn has become more hostile to hostels.

What’s a poor hipster trying to soak in the scene to do? One solution is Airbnb, a peer-to-peer network for modern day bed-and-breakfasts, where you sleep in a stranger’s apartment without a guaranteed breakfast.

Like couch surfing on steroids, listings range from pull-out couches to private rooms to entire apartments. According to it’s web site, Airbnb offers beds in 34,183 cities in 192 countries. Brooklyn hosts live all over the borough, and it’s possible to book a room for any length of time at nearly any price.

Here is a small selection of what’s available in Brooklyn. For more information, visit the websites listed.

Lefferts Garden

Anyone would feel right at home in this fresh, clean apartment two blocks from Prospect Park. It offers a brightly colored private room, full of natural light from its large windows.

Prospect Heights

This slick and modern apartment is a hipster’s dream. Not only does it offer a private room with a double bed, but also free breakfast and access to Netflix and bicycles. The only thing missing is bacon soup.

Williamsburg

For a price that leaves a plenty for beer money, this space offers a private room with a queen-sized bed and finished hardwood floors. Guests not only get access to the apartment’s full kitchen, but also a fitness center, in-building movie theater and rooftop patio.

This private room in a trendy basement apartment typifies Williamsburg. Canvases decorate most of the walls, instruments can be found around the apartment and the open living room makes a great gathering spot. The small backyard with a grill make it the perfect place to shoot the breeze on warm nights.
