Gerritsen Beach

Ten rounds to Heather “The Heat” Hardy on boxing the lights out of her opponent Mikayla Nebel at Roseland Ballroom on April 4. The Gerritsen Beach brawler remained undefeated (at 5–0!), winning with a score of 60–53, 60–54, and 60–54, which, in boxing squared circles, is called a unanimous decision.

Using a powerful one-two punch, Heather trounced Nebel in this much-anticipated rematch, and, this time, she never fell to the mat.

“She was the girl who dropped me to the floor with a strong right hand in the first minute of our previous fight,” Heather told Standing O.

“I never take any of my opponents lightly, and this was no exception.”

Coach Devon Cormack had no doubts that “The Heat” would put the burn on her opponent this go-round.

“We are a lot more experienced,” he said. “Nebel saw a different ‘Heat’ than in the first bout. But the learning continues and I see more challenge from her opponents in the future. She will step up to the plate to improve her status.”

Sharing her thoughts on this last win, Heather told Standing O, “This win came from the blood, sweat, and tears of me and my mentor, my coach and my best friend, Devon Cormack.”
