Hip horror
Police arrested a 16-year-old who they say shot man in the leg on Riegelmann Boardwalk West on April 9.
The victim told police he was near W. 32nd Street at 7:18 pm when, following an argument between the two, the 16-year-old pulled out a black-and-silver semi-auto pistol, and put a round in his hip.
Pawn
A 43-year-old man was arrested for burglarizing a woman’s Corbin Place home on April 1, taking jewelry.
The victim told police that she left her home between Brighton 12th and Brighton 13th streets at 8:15 pm, and returned later to find someone had barricaded her front door from the inside. After forcing her way in, the victim found her her home in shambles.
The victim lost several necklaces, pendants, and rings, altogether worth several thousand dollars. Cops arrested the suspect after checking receipt records at a neighborhood pawnshop, and saw that he’d been selling off the victim’s goods, according to court documents.
Honest burglar
A 65-year-old man was picked up on burglary and tresspassing charges after he was spotted snooping around a Oceanview Avenue home on April 10, police reported.
A witness told police that he was between Brighton Fourth and Brighton Fifth streets at 9:30 am when he spotted a conspicuously open window in the victim’s home, and then the suspect in his kitchen. When he asked the suspect what was doing, the man didn’t seem to hold any reservations as to stating his purpose.
“I’m looking for scraps,” he allegedly admitted to the witness.
When cops picked up the old scavenger, he admitted to the crime, going so far as to say, “I should be locked up,” according to court documents.
