A construction worker was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in serious condition on March 22, after a building collapse in Canarsie left him buried beneath a mound of cinder blocks and wooden debris.
The victim’s colleagues called first responders to the accident on E. 95th Street between Avenue D and Nolan Lane at 3:13 pm, after a collapse left one man with non-critical injuries, and a more seriously-wounded worker trapped beneath the rubble.
Emergency technicians were able to extract the buried man without further incident, removing him from the rubble in serious but stable condition. Both injured workers were rushed to Brookdale, according to a spokesman for the FDNY.
The Department of Buildings is currently investigating the collapse, and an agency spokeswoman could not confirm whether the contractor has yet received any violations for the cave in.
