Barefoot bandit
A 19-year-old man was arrested for stealing a $50 Amazon.com gift card from a man’s Royce Place home on Jan. 2.
The victim told police that he was inside his home between Royce Street and Bergen Avenue at 8:10 am when he heard footsteps on his roof. He then heard someone in his upstairs bedroom, so he went to investigate and found the suspect, who was barefoot, rummaging through his closet, he told police.
When the victim confronted the suspect, he allegedly exclaimed, “I thought this was my friend’s house,” and ran off through the window. The victim noticed that his gift card was missing and immediately called police. When they found the suspect he quickly admitted to taking the card, cops said.
