Cops and robbers
A 19-year-old woman was arrested for impersonating a police officer — and a prostitute — in addition to extorting $1,600 from a man inside a Sheepshead Bay hotel on Nov. 1, cops said.
The victim told police that he met the woman at a hotel in Sheepshead Bay at midnight, after responding to an advertisement for prostitution on backpage.com. Unfortunately, the suspect wasn’t the kind of working girl he’d expected.
The woman allegedly told the hapless man she was an undercover police officer and gave him an ultimatum — pay up, or go to jail. The victim, fearing arrest, immediately gave her $200, before heading to a nearby Western Union to wire her an additional $1,400, police reported.
When she continued harassing the victim in an attempt to extort more money, he went to the cops — the actual cops, with real badges.
Working with the police, the victim met with the woman a second time, but this time he had backup, and cops swooped in to arrest her after she accepted an additional $400 from the victim, according to police.
True romance
Police arrested a 29-year-old man who they say attacked a man on Brighton Beach Avenue on Jan. 13.
The victim told police that he was between Coney Island Avenue and Brighton 11th Street at 9 pm when the suspect slugged him in the head and “swept him off of [the victim’s] feet,” and sent him sprawling to the pavement, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.
