Brooklyn’s kids have talent.
Singers, violinists, and pint-sized thespians at PS 361 received a standing ovation for their performance of “It’s All About Love” at Kings Plaza on Dec. 19.
“The kids did a fantastic job, and they got a standing ovation from their parents,” said PS 361 music teacher Lucy Joy.
It took three months of dedicated practice for the 6- and 7-year-old performers to get ready for last week’s performance at the Avenue U shopping center, but it all paid off as shoppers clamored to hear the kids’ rendition of “Up on the Rooftop,” and other beloved holiday tunes.
“The shoppers, they always stop and clap. We had a wonderful audience,” said Joy.
The story of “It’s All About Love” follows a young kid with a warm heart, played by Ty Frame, who lends his heated cardiac muscle to the mean-spirited Scrooge, who comes to learn that it’s better to love than be a big meanie all the time.
Frame, who played violin, sang, and acted — although, not all at the same time — proved himself a consummate professional in the weeks leading up to the Kings Plaza performance and stole the show as a result, according to Joy.
“Ty Frame, he’s just amazing,” said Joy. “Always on time, responsible, and he loved doing it.”
