Five knife-wielding crooks jumped a man on 16th Avenue on Dec. 9 — overpowering and stabbing him three times, according to cops who believe the brutal assault is connected to another mugging on 71st Street.
The thieves, described as Latino men, attacked the 26-year-old victim between 69th and 70th streets at 5 am, gouging him repeatedly before running off with his wallet.
The thugs took $6 off the victim: $5 in cash and the wallet itself, which cost $1, according to cops.
Witnesses found the victim on the street unconscious and called paramedics, who rushed him to Lutheran Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition after treatment.
Sources say that a recent mugging on 71st Street was hauntingly similar to the Dec. 9 robbery, but not as brutal.
