More than 270 runners worked off their Thanksgiving dinners on the Coney Island Boardwalk last week by participating in the Coney Island Sports Foundation’s Turkey Trot, an annual holiday race where winners receive — you guessed it — more food!

The 5-kilometer course from W. 19th Street to Brighton Beach and back raised $4,000 for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, said Coney Island Sports Foundation director Edwin Cosme. The money will be doled out between three Coney Island service organizations, as well as relief groups in the Rockaways and Staten Island.

But the rewards Turkey Trot winners received were far more edible — each gladly accepted a two-pound pastry platter from a local bakery.

Park Slope journalist and three-time New York City Marathon runner David Alm came in first place during the Nov. 25 run, hitting the finish line in 17 minutes and 21 seconds.

Second place honors went to Graham Dower, a Carroll Gardens resident and South Brooklyn Running Club member who finished the race in 18 minutes and 30 seconds. Ocean Parkway resident Liam Malanaphy — an amateur magician who ran with his wife and two sons — came in third at 18 minutes and 33 seconds.
