Semper fantastic
Two touchdowns and a big Standing O to senior Laray Smith. The high schooler was selected to play in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl sponsored by the United States Marines Corps this January in Carson, California. Our pal Laray is no stranger to fame. The running back was named Junior All-American in the 200-meter dash last year and is a three-year football standout, averaging almost 10 yards per carry this season for the Clippers.
Did we mention humble, too? Laray says being chosen for the team is an incredible honor.
“This is extra special because it has to do with much more than just what happens on the football field,” he told us.
Laray has garnered raves from the promoters of this event for his outstanding high school academics, as well as his game.
“He’s the real deal,” said Shaon Berry, founder of Semper Fidelis.
“Players across the nation have an opportunity to have standout senior seasons and earn their way onto the playing field,” he added.
Laray certainly has.
The confirmation is nice, but Standing O already knows Laray Smith is the “real deal,” and he’s one heck of an All Star, too.
