Call it a Halloween break.

About 350 PS 212 pupils put on a dance performance for parents on Halloween morning, Oct. 31. The annual fall fest shows off the institution’s bona fides and helps get parents involved in school activities, the school’s top administrator said.

“It’s really fun to share the holiday and we also make it a learning experience, because it highlights our dance program and brings parents and teachers and children together — and that’s what we always want,” said principal Josephine Marsala.

Students in pre-Kindergarten through second grade showed their dance skills for about an hour Friday morning. Each grade practiced and performed its own routine — then the school’s dance team gave spectators a special performance, Marsala said.

Kids got about an hour away from the classroom to show off their costumes and their dance moves, she said. At the end of the event, the Parent-Teacher Association gave pupils treats — then it was back to class.
