While they were sleeping
Cops reported several cunning criminals who broke into homes while residents were asleep this week.
• A crafty crook broke into a home on E. 13th Street on Oct. 1.
The family went to sleep in their home between Avenues S and T at 10:30 pm. Police say the perp may have snuck in through a rear door.
• An opportunistic thief stole a man’s vehicle after sneaking into the man’s E. 12th Street on Oct. 4.
Police say the crook crept into the house near Avenue R at 11:30 pm and stole the car keys off of the victim’s kitchen table.
• A discreet burglar broke into a house on E. 18th Street on Oct. 9, but left the door open after him.
The sneaky thief used a chair to sneak into a family’s home on Avenue S through a window at 1:30 am. The crook stole a few items and exited through the front door, which he left ajar.
• A sneaky thief crept inside a home on E. 19th Street on Oct. 9.
The crook stole cash, jewelry, and electronics from the abode near Quentin Road at 3 am. After the suspect snatched the goods, police say he left the back door and basement window open.

Police say a man pretending to be a police officer is also creating chaos in the neighborhood by using his pseudo-identity to rob residents.
• A man impersonating a police officer pointed a silver firearm at a delivery man on Brown Street on Oct. 1.
The man stopped the victim between Avenue Z and Voorhies Avenue at 7:10 pm. He allegedly told the delivery man, “I’m the police, give me your ID.” The perp then stole the delivery man’s wallet.
• A con man stole an identification card from a victim on Avenue V on Oct. 3.
The man stoped the victim near Batchelder Street at 6:45 pm and allegedly shouted, “Stop! Police! You’re selling drugs. Let me see your driver’s license and ID.”
After the perp snatched the victim’s identification, he fled on foot.
• An egomaniac entered a pharmacy on Kings Highway and E. 18th Street on Oct. 5.
He allegedly told a worker that two guys were going to steal merchandise at 12:30 pm and he would arrest them outside. When the worker asked to see his identification, the crook fled.
