Partygoers celebrated the second-annual Oktoberfest at Aviator Sports and Events Center on Oct. 4.

The German-themed fall festival had plenty of beer, German music, and the country’s trademark foods — bratwurst, rabbit stew, and Bavarian soft pretzels.

But the festival also had an American twist.

The celebration centered around cornole, a Midwestern beanbag game similar to horseshoes. More than 30 teams vied for victory in the double-elimination tournament.

Teams of two tried to sink their beanbags into the hole in the Ward Boards, the custom-made boards used in the tournament. The skilled sportsmen who were first reach 21 won the coveted prizes, which included — of course — cases of beer.

Because it rained, the event was held indoors, but that didn’t stop the festivities. Oktoberfesters had a ball tossing back beers and playing classic drinking games, like flip cup and stein-hoisting.
