HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: Grand Street rebounds with win over New Utrecht

Grand Street has bounced back from its loss to Abraham Lincoln.

The Wolves squad saw its defense hold New Utrecht to just one score, and got a strong game from quarterback Justin White in a 25–6 victory over the host Utes in Public School Athletic League football last Friday afternoon. Grand Street (4–1) saw a victory against Lincoln get away in the closing minutes a week ago, but kept full control of this game.

White tossed two touchdown passes to Taysir Mack and Romiio Littlejohn and also ran for a nine-yard score. Rahmel Ashby added a one-yard scoring run. Alex Badine chipped in an interception. Angelo Carrera went three-for-14 passing for 68 yards and a touchdown pass to Walid Othman for New Utrecht (3–2).

Fort Hamilton 24, Boys & Girls 6: Michael Brooks rushed for 137 yards on 15 carries and Noah Solano added a rushing score for Fort Hamilton (2–3). Sharif Legree carried the ball seven times for 107 yards. Boys & Girls is 1–4.

South Shore 34, Susan Wagner 0: Jason Martin went 11-for-17 passing for 228 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 97 yards and a score for South Shore (4–1). Kamauley Steadman, Michael Watson and Tylik Brown each caught touchdown passes. Omar Jarrett ran for 80 yards and a score. Tyler Busby made five tackles, including a sack.

New Dorp 16, Midwood 8: William Tarver carried the ball six times for 68 yards and a touchdown for Midwood (2–3). Brandon White rushed for 53 yards on six carries and Casey Boston completed three of five passes for 54 yards.

James Madison 26, Lafayette 14: Keenan Sylvester ran for 227 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries for James Madison (5–1). Daniel Martinez completed seven of 14 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown pass to Quham Shobande. Anthony Jenkins made six tackles and recovered two fumbles.

Franklin Roosevelt 38, Automotive 6: Jashawn Joyner completed four of 14 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown and carried the ball seven times for 42 yards for Automotive (1–4). Christopher Caddle caught three passes for 56 yards and a score. He also added an interception.

Grady 41, Mott Haven 8: Tysean Johnson carried the ball 27 times for 185 yards and four touchdowns for Grady (4–1). Alex Adams completed six of 10 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown to Shakir Leacock Jr. Leacock caught five passes for 139 yards and grabbed an interception.

Christ the King 13, Xaverian 8: Garrett Murnan carried the ball five times for 59 yards and Tyler Stewart ran for 35 yards on 13 carries for Xaverian (1–3, 1–2).

Petrides 36, Tilden 28: Neville Samuel completed five of 11 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns for Tilden (1–4). Samuel also made 10 tackles. Shane George carried the ball nine times for 82 yards and added 11 tackles, a sack and recovered two fumbles.
