This Mill Basin party was for all new — and old — kids on the block.
The third annual block party on Aug. 16 on Pearson Street, between Avenues T and U, was open to locals wanting to enjoy the last stretch of summer. The party had inflatable slides, a Zumba instructor, a magician, and plenty of games. One of the organizers said the event is a great time for neighbors of all different backgrounds to get to know each other.
“We’re all different nationalities and it just works out so well,” said Debbie Malafronte, who helped organize the event. “It gets bigger and bigger every year.”
The block party, which lasted until almost midnight, was filled with activities for kids, including musical chairs and an inflatable obstacle course.
“The kids have such a great time,” said Malafronte.
And one parent said her youngster didn’t have to worry about a bedtime that night.
“She waited until it got dark so she could dance with the glow sticks,” said Keri, whose daughter Olivia Cutrone grooved to the tunes all night. “They went all out.”
But an organizer said the adults scored big, too, especially at their 50–50 drawing.
“Two people won $250,” she said.
