Break-ins keep on coming
Police reported five apartment burglaries this week in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, continuing the trend of break-ins in recent weeks. Here’s the rundown:
• A burglar hit a Clifton Place apartment on July 21 or 22, taking a laptop, a watch, and a bracelet, cops said.
The 26-year-old resident told police he left his apartment between Grand and Classon avenues at 9 am on July 21, and did not return until 6:30 the next morning. When he arrived he found his stuff missing from the bedroom, according to a police report. There were no signs of forced entry, the report says.
• Someone burglarized a Washington Avenue residence sometime between July 23 and 24, cops said.
The 43-year-old victim told police he left the pad between Greene and Gates avenues at 7:10 am, and when he returned at 3:15 am the next day, he found his door unlocked. The burglar made off with a computer, a hard drive, and a bike, according to the police report.
• A sneak snatched a sleeping woman’s wallet from inside her apartment on Fulton Street on July 25, cops said.
The 27-year-old woman told police she went to bed in her dwelling between S. Elliott Place and S. Portland Avenue at 4:30 am, and when she woke up at 7:45 am the wallet was gone. The woman also said she keeps a spare key hidden in the hall, and that the key was gone after the burglary, according to a police report.
• A burglar pushed in an air conditioning unit on Clermont Avenue the same day, taking a bunch of electronics from inside the apartment, authorities said.
The 25-year-old victim told cops he left the building between Flushing and Park avenues at 8 am, and when he returned at 7 pm he saw that the cooling unit had been shoved in through the window. The crooks took $300 in cash, a laptop, video games, and a pair of headphones, cops said.
• Cops said someone snatched a laptop from an apartment on Clinton Avenue the next day.
The 40-year-old victim told police he locked the door to his home between Willoughby and DeKalb avenues when he went to the movies at 8 pm, but when he came back at midnight the laptop was gone.
Bad bus ride
A bus rider snatched a fellow passenger’s wallet while they road a B38 bus on Lafayette Avenue on July 24.
A witness told the 34-year-old victim she saw the sneak go into her purse and take the wallet while the bus was at the corner of Lafayette and Vanderbilt avenues at 5 pm, according to a police report.
The woman checked her bag and noticed the wallet — which contained $80 cash, a MetroCard, and insurance cards — was missing, cops said.
Choking the line
Cops cuffed a 25-year-old man who they said choked a woman before stealing her phone on Ashland Place on July 23.
The woman told police she was walking home from work at 8:30 pm, and when she got to the corner of Willoughby street, a man approached her and started an argument.
The suspect pushed her and started to choke her before grabbing her phone and taking off, cops said. Officers arrested the tough guy minutes later, a police report said.
Pain in the butt
Someone shot a man in the buttocks on Monument Walk on July 27, cops said.
The 30-year-old victim told police he was between Park and Myrtle avenues at 3 pm when he was shot.
He did not know the person who shot him or a reason why he was shot. Authorities took him to Kings County Hospital for treatment, cops said.
