Delivery man stranded
An opportunistic car thief stole a delivery man’s new ride as the working stiff was handing a 78th Street customer food on June 27.
The driver stopped at the residence between 10th and 11th avenues in Dyker Heights at 4:20 pm, and left his car unlocked and running while he dropped off the meal, police said.
Meantime, the auto thief jumped in the 2014 Honda CRV and sped away westbound on 78th Street and northbound on 10th Avenue, a report states.
That’s some haul
A burglar burst into a 96th Street residence and stole thousands of dollars worth of electronics on July 24.
The victims left for work at 7:35 am and returned at 3 pm to find their house near Fourth Avenue in Bay Ridge ransacked, law enforcement sources said. The thief made off with two computers, two tablets, two cellphones, a 32-inch television, a video game system, and gold jewelry — all estimated at $3,370, reports state.
Police said they believe the burglar pushed in a window-mounted air conditioner to gain entry and exited through a back window. A neighbor recalled seeing a man dressed in all black carrying a hammer in the back of the building.
Rims ripped off
A nighttime no-good-nick stole the rims and tires off of a car parked on 80th Street sometime overnight on July 21.
The vehicle’s owner parked his ride on the street between 10th and 11th avenues in Dyker Heights at 11:30 pm Monday, but when he returned at 7:25 am the next day, his $1,800 rims and tires were gone, reports state.
No direction
A hot-wiring hell-raiser tried to steal a car on Colonial Road on July 20, but apparently gave up when he couldn’t steer the vehicle.
The driver parked his car on the road between 89th and 91st streets in Bay Ridge at 5 pm that Sunday, and when he returned at 10:30 am the next day, he saw that someone had broken into the car and its ignition mechanism, police said.
The car was equipped with a steering wheel lock and the perp did not move the vehicle, reports state.
