Police need your help finding the man who they say shot a man and a 10-year-old boy in Coney Island last weekend.
Cops released a surveillance photo of a tall, dark-skinned male wearing a yellow T-shirt, yellow shorts, and white sneakers who they believe may be the shooter.
The 10-year-old boy and 25-year-old man were shot on June 28 at approximately 7:22 pm on Mermaid Avenue between W. 23rd and W. 24th streets.
The older victim may have been the shooter’s target, police said. He had more than a dozen prior arrests on file — most are sealed, but records show he has been arrested for drug possession and robbery, according to police.
“The kid appeared to be in the wrong place at the wrong time,” a police spokeswoman said.
There is no apparent relationship between the two victims, according to cops.
The man was shot in his stomach and the boy was shot slightly above this knee. Both were rushed to Lutheran Medical Center in stable condition.
Cops request that anybody with information relating to the criminal or his crimes phone the police department’s hotline at (800) 577–8477, log into www.nypdcrimestoppers.com, or text their leads to 274637, then enter TIP577. All tips are confidential.
