They came marching in.
More than 100 drummers and horn players packed the plaza in front of Central Library on Saturday for the first performance of a song called “100+ BPM.”
National Public Radio commissioned the piece from Sunny Jain, a Clinton Hill resident and founder of the band Red Baraat. Jain invited an army of professional musicians to the performance, including members of the New York Jets and Giants drum lines, as well as amateurs who he encouraged to show up and just jam.
The event was part of Make Music New York, a citywide music festival that happens annually on June 21, the longest day of the year.
