Worth a shot
Cops cuffed a suspect who they say attemped to carjack a man’s ride on Bay 37th Street on June 4 by pretending to have a gun.
Police say the suspect approached a victim whose vehicle was idling on the road between Harway and Bath Avenues in Gravesend at 11:54 pm and threw open the driver’s door.
Then he pointed his pocketed hand as though he were holding a gun, officials say. Fearing for his life, the driver put the pedal to the metal and sped away. Police picked up the perp at the intersection, records noted.
Caught wet-handed
Cops cuffed two suspected commercial burglars — who they say dove into Gravesend Bay to elude capture — along with a third member of their four-man crew near Shore Parkway on June 9.
Police responded to a call about a burglary in progress on the parkway between Bay Parkway and 24th Avenue at 3 am and found a lookout on Shore Parkway and a second man standing at the foot of a ladder that was propped up against a security fence, records show.
The officer saw two more men inside the property, but the pair fled, diving into Gravesend Bay to escape justice, law enforcement sources say. Police arrested the two soggy suspects, as well as the man holding the ladder, but the lookout escaped, police say.
Take cover
A grassy knoll-type shot hit a victim on New Utrecht Avenue with a paintball on June 5.
The victim was sitting in his Jeep Grand Cherokee at the intersection of New Utrecht Avenue and 73rd Street in Bensonhurst at 4:50 pm when the shot rang out, striking the victim in the arm and leaving a bruise, police say.
Cops searched the area but never found the shooter, officials said.
What a trooper
A would-be robber got more than he bargained for when his victim pursued him from 81st Street to Avenue T on June 4.
The victim told police he saw someone try to break through a screen door at his home between 20th and 21st avenues in Bensonhurst around noon, but when the perp saw him, he took off, police say.
The victim became the hunter, pursuing the fleeing burglar, according to police reports. The perp’s pal showed up and the burglar hopped into the back of his pickup truck, but the vigilante victim kept up his pursuit as far as Avenue T between W. 12th and 13th streets, where the pair of thieves ditched their ride and fled in separate directions on foot, officials say.
The getaway vehicle is registered to a woman living in Pennsylvania, reports noted.
Price of love
An 89-year-old man accused his wife of secreting away valuables from their 23rd Avenue home on May 19.
The man, who lives between Benson Avenue and 86th Street, told police his wife spent the last year slyly stealing jewelry, Turkish coffee cups, and $5,000 in cash from their home while he was working.
