A power problem stalled a train at the Prospect Park subway station, stranding thousands of strap hangers on the B and Q lines on Wednesday morning.
The trouble started when an empty Manhattan-bound Q train got stuck at the Prospect Park station, which sits under the intersection of Ocean and Flatbush avenues in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, at 11:10 am, according to a spokeswoman for the transit system. When crews went to inspect the problem, they found damage to the third rail, she said. The stuck train cannot be removed until power is restored.
The delays mean no Manhattan-bound B or Q trains between Kings Highway and DeKalb avenues. Brighton Beach-bound service is not effected.
No passengers are stuck on trains, according to the MTA, but the platforms along the suspended section of lines are packed with people. And the buses above ground are overloaded.
It was not immediately known when service would be restored, the transit spokeswoman said.
