Councilman Chaim Deutsch is asking his constituents for marching orders.
The freshman legislator will convene a Participatory Governing meeting on Thursday where residents and community leaders in his district will be invited to propose legislation that Deutsch (D–Sheepshead Bay) will champion in the Council.
“During my first five months in City Council, I have worked hard to involve my community in local government,” said Deutsch. “Residents living in my district deserve the opportunity to affect the laws that govern their lives.”
At the meeting, Deutsch will head a panel of local leaders from each of the neighborhoods in his district who will field proposals for legislation offered by members of the community. The panel will evaluate the feasibility of each proposal to see how it can be included in the councilman’s legislative agenda.
Past town hall meetings hosted by Deutsch garnered calls for repairs and capital improvements to local parks, which the councilmember is now pursuing with the borough Parks Commissioner, Kevin Jeffrey.
