Bay Ridge
Toot the horn for Sen. Marty Golden, who presented a new set of wheels to the Bay Ridge Center for Older Adults on April 24.
The $65,000, sparkling white chariot — actually it’s a van! — was secured with a state grant and replaces the old one totaled in a 2012 accident.
Golden (R–Bay Ridge) sped to the fore when he heard that Ridge seniors might lose their transportation.
“The moment I heard of the collision my first thought was to make sure that everyone was okay,” he told Standing O. “As soon as I knew that there were no major injuries, my mind immediately turned to thinking of how I could help the center replace this van.”
Standing O’s mind immediately turned to giving the concerned official a Standing O for his generosity.
Marianne Nicolosi, executive director of the Bay Ridge Center, was moved by the gift.
“I am extremely grateful to Sen. Golden and all those who donated funds to help obtain this vehicle,” she said.
Standing O offers the toast, “Long may it roll.”

Midwood
Pulitzer winner
Put your hands together for Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker, a Brooklyn College alumna who won the esteemed plaudit for her play “The Flick.”
Annie, who also earned a Guggenheim fellowship last month, is no stranger to accolades — she received an Obie for her 2009 play “Circle Mirror Transformation,” and her adaptation of Anton Chekov’s “Uncle Vanya” for the Solo Rep Company was a Drama Desk Award nominee for best revival.
Mac Wellman, her mentor at Brooklyn College, isn’t a bit surprised at the success of his former pupil.
“Annie was a brilliant student and a wonderful theater maker, no one is more deserving,” he said.
Standing O wants to know if a Tony is far behind for Annie!
