Cops say they’ve got the Borough Park Molotov cocktail arsonist on ice.
Authorities say that a 35-year-old Borough Park male turned himself in for flinging a flaming bottle of gasoline into a bodega at the corner of 39th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway on April 23 following a dispute with the clerk.
The man — who lives nearby on 37th Street — faces charges of attempted murder, assault, arson, and criminal possession of a weapon after allegedly setting the corner store — and the cashier — ablaze in retaliation for being denied store credit.
Security tapes show the man first entering the store around 1 am, and asking to be allowed to take several items and pay at a later date. The clerk refused, and the man stormed out, flipping off the worker from the sidewalk.
The same figure returned at 1:55 am, with tapes showing him chucking the Molotov cocktail into the store. The interior immediately erupted into an inferno, catching the cashier’s hair and jacket on fire. The clerk was hospitalized with minor injuries.
