The score is tree-to-tree!

Nets vets and the team’s mascot and cheerleaders handed out saplings to Coney Island kids at Neptune Avenue’s PS 188 on April 8.

Fifty families took home 50 trees and met retired players Kerry Kittles and Albert King, along with the Brooklynettes and the BrooklyKnight. Organizers said the arbors will help improve the appearance of the neighborhood, and work toward the Parks Department’s MillionTreesNYC initiative goal of planting one million trees by 2015.

“Trees not only beautify our surroundings, they improve the sustainability of the environment,” said Nets director of community relations Jeff Scott.

Making an assist in the giveaway were environmental group the New York Restoration Project and financial firm PwC US — which have teamed up with the Nets to create the “Trees for Threes” project, giving away a free sapling to Brooklynites for every three-pointer scored at the Barclays Center. Scott said the program is a way for Brooklyn’s home team to give back to the borough.

“Trees for Threes was established to create a unique opportunity to transfer the success our players have on the court, back into the community,” said Scott.
