Almost got away
A perp was arrested for robbing hundreds of dollars from a bank on Court Street on March 19, police said.
The 33-year-old was at the telebooth in the bank between Third and Fourth places around 5:30 pm when he handed a note to the teller without speaking. The teller gave $486 in cash to the perp, who left and walked northbound down Court Street, according to cops.
The man was arrested on W. 23rd Street on March 26.
Knife happy
Cops cuffed a man who they say threatened to kill his acquaintance with a knife on Henry Street on March 25, cops said.
The knife-wielding 35-year-old menace got into an argument with a 26-year-old man near West Ninth Street around 5 pm, according to a police report. The perp then allegedly threatened to end his friend’s life.
He was arrested 15 minutes later and charged with menacing, harrassment, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Money moochers
Two young perps were arrested for stealing money from a schoolboy on Henry Street on March 24, cops said.
The 17-year-old victim was between Third and Fourth places on his way home from school when two perps surrounded him and took $10 from his wallet, according to police.
The 16-year-olds — who have forced $1,720 out of the boy since January, according to police — were arrested inside the school on March 24 at 11:29 am and charged with robbery in the second degree, as well as grand larceny.
Gadgets gone
Thieves stole a host of electronics from a woman’s apartment on Columbia Street on March 20, police said.
The perps came into the 30-year-old victim’s apartment between Woodhull and Summit streets sometime between 11 am and 4:30 pm and took one iPad, two Samsung Galaxy tablets, one brown wallet, two credit cards, an iPod touch, and $2,200 cash, according to cops.
Car raid
A deliquent smashed his or her way into a man’s car parked on Hicks Street sometime between March 25 and March 27, cops said.
The 28-year-old victim left his white Audi near Bay Street on March 25 at 10 pm, and when he returned two days later at 5:40 pm, he saw that his driver’s-side window was shattered.
He also noticed that the passenger-side door was ajar and that the perp took two headlights, one child booster seat, the driver’s-side door handle, two black headrests, and a radio.
Bike bandit
A thief got away with a man’s bicycle parked on the corner of Smith and Third streets between March 19 and March 21, police said.
The 42-year-old victim parked his wheels on a sidewalk light pole around 11:30 on March 19, and when he returned two days later, he saw his 18-speed was gone.
