An 82-year-old woman is dead after a driver struck her in Sheepshead Bay, early in the morning of March 21.

Police identified the victim as Pei Yao Wu of E. 22nd Street near Avenue W. According to police, she was crossing Gravesend neck Road near E. 16th Street at 8 am Friday, when a black Nissan traveling eastbound on Gravesend Neck Road hit her, according to police.

Paramedics took the woman to Coney Island Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

Police charged the driver, who remained at the scene, with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care, law enforcement officials said.

The incident marks the second pedestrian fatality in the 61st Precinct this week.

On Tuesday, 77-year-old Marlene Baharlias died after a woman backed over her on a sidewalk in Sheepshead Bay.
