Matt Timms has hosted offbeat contests at bars around Brooklyn for more than a decade (see cover story). The Takedown events started as chili cook-offs advertised with black-and-white flyers and have evolved to incorporate bacon, Bob Ross paintings, and out-of-this world color posters.
