Fire Commissioner Salvator Cassano, Chief of Department Edward Kilduff, staff and fellow EMS attendants honored fallen hero EMS Anthony “Tony” Ficara from Station 43, along with other selfless smokeeaters who rushed to the burning Twin Towers on 9-11 without a thought to their own lives.
The plaque, prominently displayed on the second floor of Coney Island Hospital, lists each of the members of Station 43, which was located at the hospital.
Ficara was a 23-year veteran who retired in 2010, and passed away in 2012.
