Running into trouble
Cops said some ruffian punched a man mid-run and stole his phone on Bergen Street on March 5.
The 25-year-old victim was running between Smith and Hoyt streets at 5:25 pm when a punk popped out of nowhere, punched him in the face, and stole his phone, police said.
Slap and run
A punk pushed and slapped a woman on Garden Place before grabbing her phone and running on March 5.
The 42-year-old victim told cops she was walking on Garden Place between Joralemon and State streets at 5:30 pm when someone came up and asked her for directions to Jay Street. The woman told the guy how to get there, and kept walking, police said. Then the guy ran up from behind and smacked the woman with an open hand, pushed her, and grabbed her phone before taking off on Joralemon Street heading towards the East River, cops said.
Two on one
Cops are also looking for two thugs they said mugged a lady on Fourth Avenue on March 8.
The 51-year-old woman was walking to the subway near Pacific Street at 1 am when one of the punks grabbed her arms, and the other punched her in the face, giving her a black eye, police said. Then the brutes grabbed her phone and $60 in cash from her coat pocket and took off, according to the report.
Lifted billfolds
Three wallets were swiped in three separate incidents within a few days of each other.
• Someone snagged the wallet from a 43-year-old woman’s purse on Feb. 28 on Fulton Street, police said.
She told cops her purse was closed when she got off the B52 bus on between Hoyt Street and Gallatin Place. But she noticed while shopping in a department store near the bus stop that her purse had been opened and her wallet removed, sometime between 3 and 4 pm, according to the police report.
The wallet had $120 in cash, debit, and credit cards, it said. Someone used the cards to buy $62 in MetroCards immediately after the theft, cops said.
• A bandit stole a 22-year-olds wallet while he was on his way to school on Jay Street on March 5.
The student realized the Harvey Davidson wallet was missing when he got to his school between Tillary Street and Tech Place at 11:30 am, police said. He said the motorcycle billfold contained $57 in cash, debit, and credit cards.
• The next day, cops said a 26-year-old reported his wallet missing, after having dinner at a restaurant on Adams Street between Fulton and Johnson streets and walking to the Borough Hall subway station.
The victim said he realized it was missing when he got to the turnstile and went to get his MetroCard out. The black Perry Ellis wallet contained $30 in cash, debit, and credit cards, which were used after the crime to purchase items at a nearby pharmacy, and then for a cab ride, according to the police report.
Gym bag grab
Cops said someone grabbed a gym bag filled with clothes and a laptop from the back seat of a car parked on Nevins Street on March 5.
The owner left the 2012 Jeep between Atlantic Avenue and Pacific Street at 8:15 pm, and came back at 11:30 pm to find the gym bag missing, police said. The victim told cops the bag contained a laptop, clothes, a weight lifting belt, and a protein supplement. Police said there was no sign of forced entry.
Ransacked
Police said someone ransacked a Henry Street apartment while the owner was out on March 7.
The victim told police he left his apartment between Middagh and Poplar streets at 10:30 am, and came home from work at 6 pm to find the place trashed. He said the burglars got away with an electronic reader, a tablet, two pairs of heirloom earrings, and a necklace with a pendant.
Laundry snag
Police arrested a man who they say went into a department store on Fulton Street on March 3, and shoved $1,013 worth of clothes into a laundry bag before trying to flee the store.
Workers at the store between Hoyt Street and Gallatin Place saw the 35-year-old stowing the merchandise in his bag at 10:20 am, and called cops who came and arrested the fashion-minded suspect.
Subway fight
A 23-year-old was arrested for beating up a man twice his age on a Manhattan-bound N train on March 6.
The 53-year-old victim told police a punk was harassing a woman on the train at 4:40 am, and he stepped in to tell the guy to knock it off. The suspect pushed the good Samaritan, causing him to strike his head against the train pole hard enough to result in a two-inch gash, police said.
Then the suspect allegedly started punching the guy in the head, before the train stopped at Dekalb Avenue, where cops arrested the younger man for assault.
Inside job
Cops arrested one man in connection to an armed robbery that took place in a Farragut Houses apartment building on March 7, but they are still looking for the other guy.
The 31-year-old victim told police she was sitting in the living room of her apartment on York Street between Gold and Bridge streets at 5:30 am, with her daughter and her daughter’s father. The father’s brother knocked on the door, and after letting him in, the father took out a handgun and held it to his daughter’s head, according to the police report. He told the woman, “If you don’t give me what I want, she’s not gonna make it,” cops said.
Then he grabbed the woman’s phone and $1,000 in cash from inside the apartment before he and his brother took off, the report said.
The report provided did not clarify which man had been arrested.
