According to the experts at Nielsen, 115.5 million people watched the Super Bowl this year. This most-watched game ever broke the previous record of 111.3 million people who watched the Super Bowl in 2011. Without looking it up, who won the Super Bowl in 2011?

According to the experts at Pepperidge Farm, the average American eats about 350,000 cookies in his or her lifetime. After looking around on the beach last summer, I cannot help but notice that there are many of us who are way above average.

Are Americans worried about the possible health risks from artificial sweeteners? You betcha they are. Sales of low and no-calorie sodas fell nearly seven percent last year. Right now many of you are thinking that regular sodas must have dropped the same amount. Nope! Regular sodas sweetened with sugar fell by less than two-and-a-half percent

An unscientific poll taken by Bill O’Reilly asked how many of us will be watching President Obama’s State of the Union Address. Of the more than 9,000 people who responded only 13 perecnt said “Sure! It’s important”; 20 percent said “I’ll catch some part of it”; and a whopping 66 percent said “No chance. Not even a minute.” And the winner is…

Last year, the President’s speech hit a low of only 33.5 million viewers. This year he hit an even lower low of only 33.3 million viewers. More of us prefer watching a football championship game than a speech by the leader of the free world. What does that say about us?

Consumer Reports tell us that 2.25 million Americans will die from medical harm this decade. We have been paying a lot of attention to medical costs and we are overlooking the hazards caused by improper medical procedures.

A recent Gallup poll informs us that only four percent of the nation describe itself as “suffering,” while 44 percent say it is “struggling.” Meanwhile, 52 percent say they are “thriving.”

I am currently thriving, but I do remember when I struggled. Deeply in debt, I worked twice as hard as my friends did. I remember working a minimum of 12 hours a day on 80 consecutive days before I took my first day off.

From CNN: 55 percent of Americans say that marijuana should be legal. Only 35 percent believe that it is morally wrong. What do you think? And why?

Don’t pooh-pooh the Tea Party away like it is gone forever and has no muscle left. The most recent Washington Postp-ABC News poll tells us that 63 percent of Republicans say they continue to support the Tea Party.

It is February and thanks to Valentine’s Day, the 23,000 jewelry stores in the United States will attempt to meet or beat the $2.8 billion in sales they made in Feb., 2013. Two point eight billion?!? Wow! I am StanGershbein@Bellsouth.net telling you that candy, flowers, and a card saying “I love you” is a lot less expensive as long as you tell her you love her all year long — and mean it!
