Friends no more
A perp was arrested for assaulting his friend in an apartment complex on Columbia Street on Feb. 4, cops said.
The 43-year-old visited the victim’s digs near Degraw Street around 1:40 pm and demanded money. The victim refused — at which point the perp threw him on the bed. The victim tried to defend himself with a pocket knife, but the suspect snatched it away, allegedly yelling, “If you fight me, you better kill me!”
Cops later cuffed the perp, who they say was found in possession of a crack pipe.
Hit and run
A man was arrested for hitting another guy on Richards Street on Feb. 8, cops said.
The men were getting into an argument near Hamilton Street around 2:15 pm when the 35-year-old hit the victim in the face, according to a sergeant. The perp, who was found with a knife, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and assault.
No child’s play
Police arrested two men who they say stole a woman’s iPhone on Fourth Place on Feb. 4, cops said.
The 60-year-old victim was near Smith Street on her way to pick up her child from school around 2:45 pm when three perps approached her from behind, snatched her iPhone, and fled.
Two of the perps — both 16 years old — were arrested, but the third remains at large, cops said.
Back to reality
A crook ransacked a woman’s apartment on Union Street on Feb. 4, cops said.
The 44-year-old woman left her digs near Columbia Street at 11:58 am, and when she returned at 7:30 pm, she started to watch television. After about an hour, she realized that someone had broken into the apartment while she was gone and taken her HP laptop, engagement ring, calculator, silver link bracelets, and about 16 valuables, including $500 in cash.
The criminal could have entered the apartment through the fire escape, cops said.
Dead serious
A woman repeatedly punched a mourner after she left a funeral home on Court Street on Feb. 7, cops said.
The 57-year-old victim told police she was leaving a funeral service near Sackett Street around 9:15 pm when the 43-year-old perp came up to her, yelled, “Are you still with him?” and hit the victim several times in the head and upper body, causing her to fall onto the sidewalk.
The suspect was wearing black cowboy boots and an overcoat, cops said.
Ice scheme
A perp broke into an ice cream truck parked in garage on Sackett Street sometime between Nov. 28 and Feb. 4, police said.
The 47-year-old truck owner parked the white Chevy near Van Brunt Street back on Nov. 28, and when he returned on this month, he found the door lock broken. About $100 worth of property was stolen.
Scarfed up
A criminal stole a scarf from a boutique on Smith Street on Feb. 7, cops said.
The perp took off with the cashmere shawl from the shop near Butler Street around 4:30 pm, according to a 40-year-old worker.
