The snow brought tragedy to Brighton Beach on Monday, when an elderly man was struck and killed by backhoe that was clearing snow at the Oceana condominium.
Stanislav Chernyshov, 73, was crossing Oceana Terrace near his home around noon when the snow-removal vehicle backed up and hit him between Oceana Drive West and Brighton Beach Avenue.
Medics rushed Chernyshov to Coney Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the privately-operated snowplow was not charged, but an investigation is ongoing, police said.
