Many say New York has one of the greatest public transportation systems in the world, but most of these people are tourists who pop into town and marvel over the fact that they don’t need an SUV to get from point A to point B. They’re not born-and-raised New Yorkers who typically work late and rise early — and need the train more than food, water, sleep, and any other basic human comfort. That said, the MTA must be run by tourists — or at least people with a lot of time on their hands. How else to explain such an abysmal weekend schedule?

All changes are from Saturday, Sept. 15 at 12:01 am to Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 5 am unless otherwise noted:

3: No trains between Franklin Avenue and New Lots Avenue from 6 am on Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday.

4: No trains between Utica Avenue and New Lots Avenue stations from 4 am on Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday.

A: Manhattan-bound trains will run along the F line from Jay Street-Metrotech to West Fourth Street.

C: Manhattan-bound trains will run along the F line from Jay Street-Metrotech to West Fourth Street from 6:30 am to 11 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

D: No trains between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and 34th Street-Herald Square. Take the F, N, or R.

J: No trains between Crescent Street and Jamaica Center from 4 am on Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday.

Q: Coney Island-bound trains run express from Prospect Park to Sheepshead Bay Road from 11:30 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday.
