CONEY ISLAND: Cops: Teen found with stolen jewelry, pot

Jewel thief

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for plucking jewelry from a Brighton 12th Street apartment on Sept. 7, and for having marijuana and pills on him, police said.

A witness told police that she was between Corbin Place and Hampton Avenue at 7:15 pm when she saw the suspect enter the victim’s apartment through a window. She then saw the suspect standing on the roof of the victim’s apartment building, taking various jewelry from a small, wooden box, police said.

When cops arrested the suspect, they found him in possession of the victim’s jewelry, as well as a Ziploc bag full of pot and six Oxycodone pills, cops said.

Out patient

Police arrested a 64-year-old man who they say beat and threatened staff at a hospital on Ocean Parkway on Sept. 7.

One of the victims told police that he was inside Coney Island Hospital between Avenue Z and Shore Parkway at 7:20 pm when the suspect slugged him the face while screaming threats to other members of the hospital staff.

Tool time

A 48-year-old man took more than $1,000 worth of tools from a Cropsey Avenue Home Depot on Sept. 7, according to police.

A security guard told police that he was inside the big-box hardware store between Bay 53rd Street and Hart Place at 7:20 pm when he saw the suspect place a sewage pump, a mini blind, a paint sprayer, a welder, and various other merchandise in his cart and attempt to leave without paying.

Staying cool

A 58-year-old woman was arrested for stealing air conditioners from an Atlantic Avenue home on Aug. 3.

A witness told police that he was between Beach 38th and Beach 40th streets at 4:30 pm when he saw the suspect removing the cooling appliances from the victim’s home.
