A Dyker Heights man is looking at a 32-year prison term after police linked his saliva to a 2007 molestation case.
Tommaso Dilillo was sentenced on Dec. 6 to 32 years in the slammer — the maximum allowed by law — for abducting and molesting a 4-year-old Borough Park girl in July of 2007.
Outgoing District Attorney Charles “Joe” Hynes successfully charged the 35-year-old Dilillo with snatching the child from the front steps of her home on 52nd Street between 19th and 20th avenues and shoving her into his car on July 16, 2007. Dilillo then drove off with the girl, later pulling over and sexually abused her. At one point, Dilillo stripped off the child’s underwear and threw it out his car window. He then drove several blocks away, and forced the girl out.
A volunteer with the Misaskim — an Orthodox Jewish crime-victim-support group — found the child’s undergarment and turned it over to the police. A forensics lab found saliva on the fabric and was able to match it to a DNA sample taken from Dilillo following a 2011 conviction for sex trafficking.
A source in the district attorney’s office said that DNA evidence also tied Dilillo to the Aug. 2008 kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl at the corner of 14th Avenue and 51st Street, but the second victim’s family refused to cooperate with authorities, and the district attorney had to throw out the charge.
Dilillo is currently serving a three-year sentence for the sex trafficking conviction, with the latest sentence now added to that. The judge also sentenced Dilillo to an additional 10 years of post-release supervision on top of his hard time.
