The polite thief
A woman was arrested for stealing another lady’s Samsung Galaxy on 37th Street on Nov. 7 — after complementing the victim on her “nice” cellphone.
The victim told police that she was near Quentin Road at 3:32 pm when the suspect waltzed up behind her and grabbed the phone out of her hands.
“This is nice,” the suspect allegedly declared, before hightailing it on foot, cops said.
Tough times, bad crimes
Cops cuffed a woman who they say raided a register at the Avenue U store that — formerly — employed her on Nov. 18, taking $190 and change.
Another employee told police that, upon reviewing records at the store between E. 54th and E. 55th streets, she became suspicious that the suspect had dipped into the register using her employee access code.
Upon confronting the woman, she allegedly spilled the beans and admitted to taking the cash after work that day at around 7 pm, according to police.
“Times are hard,” she allegedly stated as an excuse for the crime.
