Smoke-eaters doused a blaze in a Brighton Beach basement on Nov. 12.
Fire department sources said the flames broke out in the cellar of a three-story home on Brighton Seventh Street between Banner Avenue and the Belt Parkway at 4:47 pm. The inferno quickly climbed to the upper floors as residents evacuated the structure.
“It started in the basement and spread up through some of the walls,” an FDNY spokesman said.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and contained the pyre by 5:30 pm. Medical personnel treated one person for mild injuries on the scene. No one was hospitalized. Marshals are still investigating what sparked the blaze.
