Bad call
Police brought in a man who they say beat a woman for her cellphone on Neptune Avenue on Sept. 24.
The victim said she was walking between W. Fifth and W. Sixth streets at 1 am when the accused came up and asked to see her phone. The woman said she refused — which allegedly prompted the defendant to punch her in the face and grab the device.
Brighton rocked
A man was arrested for allegedly brutalizing a woman on Brighton 13th Street on Sept. 22 — and police claim to have caught the man carrying an illegal knife.
The victim said that the man in custody assaulted her between Corbin Place and Oceanview Avenue at 8:50 pm, punching and kicking her repeatedly. A doctor reported that the woman suffered a fractured vertebrae, bleeding of the brain, bruised ribs, and a severe cut on the mouth that required several stitches. Cops reported that the suspect was carrying an illegal flick knife when they picked him up.
Pampered
Police picked up a man who they say shoplifted two bags of diapers from a Mermaid Avenue store — and then punched and mugged a cashier who attempted to stop him — on Sept 21.
The store employee said he saw the defendant try to walk out of the store between W. 15th and W. 16th streets with the packages of baby gear. The worker said that when he confronted the accused, the man struck him in the face and took his iPhone, then fled.
Police said the man still had the diapers and mobile device on him when they took him into custody.
