Furious about the film crew that has taken over your street for the next week? Tired of having to step over extension cords and reclining extras to pick up a paper? A modest proposal: the indignities of living under HBO occupation might go down better with some coffee and a croissant.

Councilman Steve Levin’s proposal to make film companies provide more information on film shoots to the public is all well and good but, as others have said, it does not go quite far enough. The missing piece is not tax sanctions or beefed up enforcement, though. The one crucial element Levin’s bill lacks is free catering for all.

We have all encountered the film shoot food table, brimming with food and sitting open for cast, crew, and the brave few willing to bypass security for a few munchies. But if it is good will between the film industry and Brooklynites that Levin wants to see, a free ham sandwich here and there would go a long way.

So please, Mr. Levin, honorable members of the council, throw us a bone — preferably a drumstick — and turn our Tinseltown frowns upside down.
