All good things must end — with disco!
The final episode of state Sen. Marty Golden’s 2013 Summer Concert Series on Aug. 21 capped off the series in Marine Park with 40 disco, dance, and rock covers courtesy of City Sounds, and music lovers said this year’s grand finale was everything they expected.
“We had a pistol last night,” said Marine Park resident Lisa Bass, speaking figuratively. “We love those concerts.”
City Sounds rocked late into the night covering Springstein, Maroon 5, and Journey tunes that got people out of their lawn chairs and onto their feet.
“They were playing all types of famous songs, and everybody was up dancing,” said Marilyn Kostroff, who came over from Brighton Beach. “People were slow dancing, fast dancing, there was even a line dance going on.”
Wednesday’s performance capped off Golden’s concerts series in the park this year, which began with classic rock-and-roll tunes from Plastic Soul on July 17, some oldies from the New York Exceptions on July 31, and Sinatra sound-alike Carl Thomas on Aug. 14.
Golden (R–Bay Ridge) also holds a concert series in Bay Ridge, and the final show will be on Aug. 27, with John Rafferty and the Canny Brothers.
John Rafferty and the Canny Brothers (79th Street and Shore Road) on Aug. 27 at 7 pm.
