Turns out, you can be too clean!
A Fire Department hazardous materials crew had to gear up and remove spilled cleaning products from a 69th Street basement on July 23.
FDNY said that fumes from mixed ammonia and other agents seeped into businesses and apartments above the cellar near the corner of Third Avenue, setting off alarms. Smoke-eaters arrived at 12:15 pm and evacuated tenants. A clean-up crew, clad in head-to-toe hazmat suits and gas masks, removed the chemicals from the basement by 12:45 pm.
No one was taken to the hospital.
